While searching for a way to escape the summer 2020 lockdown, I stumbled across camper van rentals. But they were surprisingly expensive for just a few days. That led me to browse used campervan listings instead, and soon I was sketching out a possible route. An idea began to take shape.
That evening at dinner, I shared it with the family: “Since the kids are doing school online and Dad doesn’t have any business trips coming up, why not buy an old camper and hit the road for more than just the holidays?”
A few days later, Cindy Lou became part of the family. She carried us and sheltered us across the U.S., turning our spontaneous idea into something much bigger.
What was meant to be a short getaway turned into two years of nomadic life. We traveled nearly 20,000 miles (32,000 km), and not a single scratch along the way!
